Our Teams and Structure

With expertise in technology, merchandising, operations and logistics, studio, and marketing, Zulily team members work together to innovate on our unique promise to Moms looking to find something unique and amazing prices for themselves, their families, and their homes.

We are organized into our Corporate team (which includes all roles at our headquarters in Seattle along with corporate services roles in our other locations), our Customer Service and Support team (based in Ohio and remote), and our Fulfillment Centers (located in Reno, NV; Lockbourne, OH; and Bethlehem, PA).

Technology

Our innovative Tech team provides site engineering know-how and builds the functionality that powers our internal operations and every Zulily shopping experience. 

Marketing

Our Marketing team, which includes Brand, Creative, Paid Ads, Outbound, Affiliate/Influencer, and PR, ensures we are reaching mom with integrated campaigns throughout her journey.

Merchandising

Our Merchandising team is focused on bringing in just the right products for Mom. Our team includes buyers who scour the globe to find treasures from well-known and emerging brands—and offers them at unbeatable prices. At Zulily, we mainly feature brands and products in limited quantities, and only for a brief time, in what we call "events."  

New events launch daily on our site and our app, and our Merch team is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of our sales events in partnership with our Marketing and tech teams. Once a sales event ends, our buyers place orders with our partners, and the order fulfillment process begins. This is where our vendor operations and logistics team shines.

Operations and Logistics

-Our Vender Operations team works closely with our vendors to ensure products are shipped as expected and arrive on time, so we can continue giving Mom the best customer experience possible.  

-Our Transportation team facilitates and manages all shipments, and our relationships with our carriers.

-At our Zulily Fulfillment Centers (FCs) in Ohio, Nevada and Pennsylvania, thousands of items arrive every day from vendors around the world. From there, they are repackaged to include all the ordered items and then they are shipped out to customers.
Our Interview Process
Preparing for an upcoming interview with us? Here’s what you can expect:

Phone Screen: The first step in the Zulily interview process is typically a discussion with one of our Talent Acquisition partners to better understand your experience, qualifications, and career interests. You should plan for a 30-minute conversation via phone or video, depending on the role.

Assessments: For some roles, you may be asked to complete a pre-hire assessment to help us determine your experience level with certain functional or technical skills associated with the position. If this applies to the position for which you are being considered, the Talent Acquisition Partner will notify you and provide all necessary information regarding when and how to complete the assessment.

Phone Interview: After speaking with our Talent Acquisition team and completing any assessments, selected candidates move forward to the next phase of the interview process, which may differ by role. You will speak to the hiring manager or a member of their team and should plan for a 30–60-minute conversation via phone or video.

Face to Face Interview: Please note that all face-to-face interviews for corporate positions are currently being conducted via video to ensure team member and candidate safety during the Covid-19 pandemic. Selected candidates will be scheduled for a face-to-face interview, which will take place either in person or via video. A Zulily interview team consists of 4-5 team members who will conduct individual conversations with you, each having specific focus areas for discussion. You should plan for each interview to have a duration of 30-60 minutes with the total interview time ranging from 2-5 hours depending on the role.

Interview Format: At Zulily, we leverage the behavior-based interview format for most roles across the business. With this format, candidates can expect the interviewers to ask for specific examples from past work experience, as that information is helpful in predicting a candidate’s success at Zulily. Our interview questions are grounded in our Principles, so reviewing them in advance of your interview will be helpful. Focus on sharing examples that demonstrate your ability to apply our Principles in your work experience.

For technical and creative roles such as SDEs, SDMs, Machine Learning Engineers, Big Data Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, Principal Engineers and UX professionals, Zulily conducts interviews that will assess your ability to solve problems. This may involve asking you to write algorithms, systems design, pseudo-code, or detailed solutions to technical problems. How you solve the problem is just as important as coming up with the correct answer.
