About Us
Make a difference every day by building meaningful relationships and treating the whole patient. At THE DENVER HOSPICE, we believe each day counts – for both our patients and our team members who care for them. After all, hospice is about making the most of each day by enhancing our patients’ quality of life. We’re looking for passionate employees who share our vision. Join our team.
Take Care of You
THE DENVER HOSPICE is implementing a new way for RN Case Managers and Admissions RNs to schedule their time and provide care for patients and families.

The new employment program is called “Take Care of You – Scheduling” and it will provide RN Case Managers and Admissions RNs with additional time off to balance work and life responsibilities.

The “Take Care of You – Scheduling” program allows hospice RN Case Managers and Admissions RNs to be scheduled 72 hours in a pay period and receive their full salary of 80 hours in that same pay period. It can be used as an afternoon off each week or a day off every other week, based on the preference of the team member.

“Take Care of You – Scheduling” gives these employees an additional day off every two weeks – for a total of 26 additional days per year – in addition to their PTO, to use however they like. In addition, sign on bonuses also apply to some RN roles.
Awards & Accrediations
THE DENVER HOSPICE has earned a reputation for high-quality care over decades. As a community member since 1978, we have gained trust as leaders in hospice and palliative care.

Accreditation and awards from organizations like the Accreditation Commission for Health Care and We Honor Veterans demonstrate THE DENVER HOSPICE’s high standards in our care and in our operations.

Care Synergy Network
THE DENVER HOSPICE is proud to be an affiliate of Care Synergy, which provides mission support services for not-for-profit, community-based hospice and palliative care affiliate organizations serving Colorado’s Front Range.

Care Synergy’s affiliate organizations continue to operate as distinct and independent, not-for-profit mission-driven hospice and palliative care organizations while working together to share best practices and serve more Coloradans along the Front Range.

The support of Care Synergy provides financial stability and allows for great benefits and competitive salaries while empowering affiliate organizations to maintain their unique identities and build on their proud legacies.

When Carolyn Jaffe—an ICU nurse—founded THE DENVER HOSPICE in 1978, she wanted it to be a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Community supporters agreed, believing that a mission-driven organization would be best for delivering the sensitive, high-quality care people deserve at the end of life.

What does being a not-for-profit hospice mean three decades later?

1. It helps draw and retain exceptional staff members. Our 400 employees and 480 volunteers call our not-for-profit status a “deciding factor.”
2. THE DENVER HOSPICE provides care to all who can benefit from our care regardless of their ability to pay. We provide services for the benefit of our community, not shareholders. Decisions on delivery strategies, personnel, new programs, and community outreach are made to enhance care, not to reward shareholders or private owners. Our Inpatient Care Center at Lowry, children’s grief services and palliative care services are examples of community-focused initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to meeting community need – not the needs of far-off shareholders or private owners.
3. Excess revenues are reinvested in our community to care for the serious and terminally ill and their families.
4. Patient’s needs are best met across the continuum of care. THE DENVER HOSPICE provides services before an individual is ready for hospice; we provide needed supportive services that ensure a smooth transition to hospice care when appropriate. THE DENVER HOSPICE provides many bereavement programs, including the Footprints Children’s Grief Center which serves more than 3,500 families each year.
In-Patient Care Center
Designed to provide exceptional comfort for patients and families, the Inpatient Care Center encompasses 24 private suites, each with its own patio. There are no set visiting hours. Anyone, including children, may visit at any time.
Hospice Service Area
THE DENVER HOSPICE provides in-home and facility hospice care to patients across nine counties comprising the Denver metro area: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, Jefferson and Weld. So across the Denver metro area, from Boulder to Castle Rock, Golden to Bennet, families can count on our care.
