About Nationwide Building Society
At Nationwide, we’re different from other financial services providers.

Why? Because we’re a building society. That means, unlike banks, we’re owned by our members.
We’re here to help them make the most of their money so they can achieve what they want in life.
And we do that by bringing them together, because together we can achieve things we can’t achieve alone.

When you work here, you’re part of that collective. Part of an organisation that’s dedicated to its members.
And we ask our colleagues to always remember that. To keep redefining what membership means to our
own generation and the next. We ask you to work hard to preserve who we are, where we’ve come from
and what we stand for. And we ask you to bring out the best in each other, to create a place where our
own differences are treasured, so we can do our very best for our members.

Together, we are building a stronger, kinder and greener society for our members’ mutual benefit
and the mutual good of all; with mutual respect.
We're rethinking technology to build a better society
This is your opportunity to build something special.
We want you to be you somewhere you’re comfortable, wherever you’re working from.
Where you can establish real connections and get in touch with machine learning, big data and platform development that have real-world applications.
We’re serious about making technology faster and simpler for our 15 million members. And backed by a multi-billion tech investment, we’re hiring people with the talent and drive to help us succeed.
Our Benefits - Rewarding the people who help build our Society
Recognising and rewarding those who put our members first matters to us. It’s you who makes the difference so our benefits are designed with you in mind. Take a look at what's on offer:

- Generous holiday allowance: 25 days, increasing to 30 days per year. We also give our employees the option to ‘buy’ up to an extra 10 days holiday.

- Flexible working: Including options such as flexi-time, part-time, job sharing, remote working, and term-time contracts.

- Flexible benefits: Including the option to buy private healthcare discounted for you and your family, reduced-price gym memberships, and dental plans.

- Social responsibility: We invest 1% of our pre-tax profits in social responsibility and give all our employees 14 hours paid volunteering time to support causes that matter to them.

- Diversity and inclusion: We want every employee to feel welcome and able to bring their whole selves to work. Vibrant employee network groups support everyone.

- Learning and development: We invest in our people, offering coaching and mentoring programmes; technical and professional development and qualifications; and leadership development.

- Family friendly policies: Including extra time off for parents and carers, 26 weeks paid maternity/adoption leave, extended leave for premature babies, six weeks paid paternity leave and four weeks paid bereavement leave.

Pounds in your pocket - And you’ll want to know about the benefits for a job well done:

- Employee rewards: Competitive salary + Personal Accident 3 x salary and Life Assurance 8 x salary.

- Leading pension scheme: With company contributions of up to 16% when you contribute 7%. That's 23% in total!

- Sharing in success: A discretionary annual bonus scheme rewarding our collective efforts if we achieve the Society’s objectives.
You can bank on the fact we don't act like one
We make history, but the future is our focus:

We’ve been pioneers since 1846 and we’re proud of our achievements, but take a look and discover what our Society is like today. We’re evolving, growing and offering a huge range of career opportunities for people who share our values and ambition.

Nationwide might look like a bank. We certainly offer products and services that look the same, but are quite different in practice. We start from a very different place, one that has profound implications. What truly defines us is that, as a mutual, we are owned by our members.

Our culture is built upon providing legendary service for our thriving membership of over 15 million members. From the way we communicate to how we innovate our products, we put people first and keep their best interests at heart. These values aren’t new, they are what the Society was founded on and they underpin how we do things today.

Whether you’re a number cruncher, a big thinker or a people person, there’s a place for you at Nationwide.
Tech Teams: Nationwide Digital - The face of change
Bringing legendary customer experience into every digital interaction, our digital teams are paving the way for Digital Transformation with a focus on agility, speed of change and resilience. The aim? To get closer to our members’ needs across all our existing products and services, as well as future Open Banking propositions.
Tech Teams: The importance of our BIG Investment
We’re serious about making technology faster and simpler for our 15 million members. And backed by a multi-billion tech investment, we’re hiring people with the talent and drive to help us succeed.

We'll also be moving into our new location at the iconic Post Building in Holborn, London in 2020. Our head office will remain in Swindon but we know Holborn is a great place to attract industry-leading technologists within the Fintech capital of the world.

Our new base will house around 1000 colleagues and a new digital and data innovation centre for those working in Digital, Data, Engineering, Architecture, Development Ops and Design specialisms.
Nationwide PRIDE Poem
We annually participate in many Pride Parades, in recent years we've supported parades in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Belfast and Swindon.

The Society’s LGBTQ+ Network actively supports employees across its branch network and admin sites, delivering activities and events that inform, educate and inspire all employees at Nationwide.

Here are our employees and their friends and family enjoying London Pride Parade and a poem we had written by poet Bella Cox.
