What We Do

OUR MISSION
The Family Place empowers victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.

For victims of family violence, The Family Place is the Dallas area’s leading organization delivering proven programs that address emotional and physical abuse and incest. The Family Place provides free, comprehensive services that prevent violence and fully support women, children and men on their path from fear to safety.

Family violence affects people from all walks of life, and so our clients are a reflection of our community. The Family Place serves all victims of family violence—women, children and men.

In 2014, The Family Place provided services to a total of 11,523 clients with 164,672 hours of service in Spanish and in English. Since 1978, we have counseled more than 225,000 clients, provided lifesaving shelter to more than 21,000 women, children and men, and answered more than 550,000 calls for help. We have helped more than 20,000 batterers learn how to change their abusive behavior and reach approximately 6,000 students each year through our youth education programs.
