About Superior Well Services
If you're in the oil drilling business, Nabors Completion and Production wants to be your neighbor. The oil services company (formerly Superior Well ) provides technical pumping services (stimulation, nitrogen, and cementing) and down-hole surveying services (logging and perforating) that smaller rivals do not provide and at prices competitive to those offered by the big oilfield services companies such as Baker Hughes and Schlumberger. The bulk of Nabors Completion and Production's customers are regional oil and gas companies. The technical pumping services unit operates a fleet of more than 1,600 commercial vehicles. The company is part of oil and gas exploration and production firm Nabors Industries.
Nabors purchased the unit in 2010 for about $900 million. The deal added Nabors Completion and Production's extensive portfolio of technical services (especially technical pumping services) to Nabors' broad range of contract drilling activities.
Nabors Completion and Production had pursued a strategy of becoming a national player in the oil services market by growing through acquisitions. It expanded from two service centers in the Appalachian region to almost 30 service centers serving customers in 38 states. Its customer base had grown from 89 in 1999 to more than 1,200 in 2010.
Nabors Completioni and Production was formed as Superior Well Services in 1997 by three former employees of Halliburton Energy Services: David Wallace, Jacob Linaberger, and Rhys Reese.
