About Camp Takajo
YESTERDAY'S VALUES FOR TODAY'S BOYS
Since 1947, our focus has remained constant – to provide a full-season summer camp experience that helps each boy develop the many facets of his unlimited potential. Our fundamental emphasis — brought home through sports and a wide range of activities and special events — is to instill strong moral and ethical standards that build character. Time-tested values such as integrity, honesty, compassion and respect are the foundation of the Camp Takajo experience
A core of veterans provides the foundation of our staff each summer. They are joined by college students, former campers, and teachers from throughout the U.S. and abroad. Most of the staff from overseas come from the United Kingdom, with representatives from many countries on all continents.
Our counselor staff assembles before the campers arrive for a six-day orientation. Our philosophy, aims, ideals, and objectives are detailed. Privileges of the staff are also covered.
Our primary concern during the staff orientation is to emphasize the values and attitudes we deem desirable, how they relate to camp, what our limitations are, as well as what we hope to accomplish with the boys. Counselors are apprised of details concerning each camper with whom they will be living. With guidance from their group leaders, activity counselors have a chance to prepare their facilities and organize the procedures through which they will implement their programs.
