About Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council
LifeWorks Community Action, formerly Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council, is a nonprofit that helps thousands of neighbors each year overcome the challenges of poverty by providing food, early childhood education, energy services, health and wellness, and immigrant services. Popular programs include The Pantry in Ballston Spa and The Kitchen in Saratoga Springs, as well as Head Start, WIC and Weatherization. Help Starts Here.
Community Services and Advocacy
Advocacy services help families work toward self-sufficiency by providing support to meet their basic household needs, set goals and identify and build skills and resources needed to accomplish them.
Staff work with individuals and families in crisis by helping navigate through homelessness, hunger, substance abuse, mental health and domestic violence. We also offer Immigration and Advocacy Services, ESL, a Dress for Work program, financial literacy courses and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.
Food Programs and Resources
Along with our Emergency Food Pantry, EOC operates a Soup Kitchen in Saratoga Springs, a Mobile Food Pantry and a Rural Food Delivery Program.
Head Start Daycare Classroom
Head Start and Early Head Start offer school readiness programs to 434 youth, families and pregnant women in 11 locations through partnerships with 8 school districts and community centers. This is a Federally funded early education program for qualifying low-income families. Currently operate 15 preschool daycare licensed classrooms.

In addition to education services, also provide support for parents and families through home based programming, disability services, medical, health and developmental services, nutrition services and other supplemental support services.
Weatherization for Saratoga and Schenectady Counties
The crew install energy saving measures in homes to reduce the energy burden on customers within Saratoga and Schenectady Counties. Improvements include insulation, doors, windows, etc
WIC Supplemental Nutrition Program
WIC (Women Infant Children) provides supplemental food services to pregnant women and children up to age 5, supporting nutrition and health during a critical period of development for infants and children. Also help families establish a healthy foundation for the future.
