3HC helping though COVID-19
3HC continues to adapt to the conditions and rules dictated by the Coronavirus. We continue to screen and test staff and patients for signs and symptoms to prevent infection. We have been creative in securing and providing PPE to keep staff and patients safe. Donations and supports continue to arrive for our care providers and we are very thankful for the community we serve for this tremendous outpouring and helping to meet the need. Policy and practices are being updated in response to the changes in restrictions allowed by Federal and State regulations to ensure we can care for patients and families in appropriate ways under these circumstances.

3HC’s Core Values…Compassion, Innovation, and Excellence… have never been more evident than in our people’s response to this pandemic. Everyone has had their usual home and work activities affected significantly as we pull together to make good things happen for those in need each day. We are stronger when we work together and support each other in this challenge. Thank you for demonstrating what it means to be a “caring community” and know that we are here to support and care for you.
We honor Veterans
3HC earned its third star and is now a level 3 partner of the We Honor Veterans program! This program is a national awareness campaign that was developed by the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veteran Affairs.

The We Honor Veterans program invites hospices, state hospice organizations, Hospice-Veteran Partnerships, and VA facilities to join a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgement. By recognizing the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families, community providers, in partnership with VA staff, learn how to accompany and guide them through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending. We Honor Veterans provides educational tools and resources in advancing these goals, including promoting veteran-centric educational activities, increasing organizational capacity to serve veterans, supporting development of strategic partnerships, increasing access, and improving quality. The goal of the program is simple – to care for and honor those who have served when they reach the end of life. By participating in community partnerships and collaborations, partner organizations, such as 3HC, are able to educate, engage, and expand awareness to veterans and their families.

3HC is helping the Community
As the end of life approaches, it is natural that lifelong dreams, or final wishes, take on a greater sense of urgency. The Butterfly Wings Program’s mission is to facilitate current 3HC hospice patients in realizing a special dream or wish that would make a significant difference in his or her physical, emotional, or spiritual well-being.

Since it is the commitment of the Butterfly Wings Program to empower communities and recipients to share the joy of granting wishes and making dreams come true, individuals and groups within a patient’s community are invited to be involved in providing resources. For patients or families who are interested in learning more, your Hospice Social Workers can provide details and walk you through the process of submitting a wish to the Butterfly Wings Program.
Our History
Home Health and Hospice Care, Inc. – 3HC – was founded in July 1981, as Mount Olive Home Health in Mount Olive, North Carolina. In the years since, the private, 501 (c)(3), not-for-profit health care company has grown into one of the largest of its kind in North Carolina and is recognized nationwide as a leader in the home care industry.
In its early days, the company served clients with a professional staff of two, a part-time registered nurse and a part-time physical therapist. In 1984, it changed its name to Home Health and Hospice Care, Inc., and in 1989, it established its corporate headquarters in Goldsboro where it now remains. The company quickly earned a reputation for quality and compassionate care.

From a staff of three in 1981, the company currently employs almost 500 professionals in eight clinical offices, the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, the Crystal Coast Hospice House, and the corporate office.
