About University of the District of Columbia
THE UNIVERSITY OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

“Where Lives Are Changed”

Since 1851, the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) and its predecessor institutions have quite literally “changed the lives” of thousands of students for whom a quality education seemed out of reach. It was a founding principal for abolitionist Myrtilla Minor to train young African-American women as teachers. And today, as a comprehensive public institution, UDC embraces a bold mission to build a diverse generation of competitive, civically-engaged scholars and leaders. From classical arts and sciences to new green–collar courses of study, UDC offers over 50 undergraduate and graduate academic degree programs. UDC supports a broad commitment to education, research and community service across its colleges and schools: the College of Arts and Sciences; the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences; the School of Business and Public Administration; the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; the Community College; and the David A. Clarke School of Law, which is regarded as one of the finest public interest law schools in the country.

As an employer, the University recognizes that its continued growth and success is built on the strength of its people. Therefore, UDC strives to recruit and employ strong and effective executives, managers, faculty and staff who function in a culture of excellence and accountability.
