Since 1851, the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) and its predecessor institutions have quite literally “changed the lives” of thousands of students for whom a quality education seemed out of reach. It was a founding principal for abolitionist Myrtilla Minor to train young African-American women as teachers. And today, as a comprehensive public institution, UDC embraces a bold mission to build a diverse generation of competitive, civically-engaged scholars and leaders. From classical arts and sciences to new green–collar courses of study, UDC offers over 50 undergraduate and graduate academic degree programs. UDC supports a broad commitment to education, research and community service across its colleges and schools: the College of Arts and Sciences; the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences; the School of Business and Public Administration; the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; the Community College; and the David A.
