About The Doe Fund
The Doe Fund is a nationally-acclaimed nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and recidivism. Our flagship program—Ready, Willing & Able—integrates transitional housing, paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to help formerly homeless and incarcerated men return to mainstream society.
The “Men in Blue,” as participants in the program are known, have faced extraordinary hardships, but are determined to change their lives and the lives of their families forever. Since 1990, more than 6,500 men have graduated from Ready, Willing & Able with their sobriety, a full-time job, and a permanent home.

Systems of racism, poverty, and mass incarceration have set up generations of men to fail. See how The Doe Fund is breaking the cycle of oppression for our Men In Blue.
Ready, Willing & AbleReady, Willing & Able is the most comprehensive transitional work program in the country. Since 1990, the program has helped more than 23,000 men reenter mainstream society after incarceration and homelessness. At the heart of Ready, Willing & Able is paid work—the opportunity to be employed and earn money from a participant’s first day in the program—complemented by housing, education, career development and training, and personalized case management and social services. After 9-12 months, participants graduate from the program with the work and life skills necessary to achieve permanent self-sufficiency and become economic engines for their families and in their communities.
Social EnterpriseAs an early pioneer of the social enterprise model, The Doe Fund uses revenue-generating businesses to sustain its programs and provide workforce training. To date, The Doe Fund’s social enterprises have generated over $1 billion in revenue, a quarter of which has been put directly in the pockets of the Men in Blue. Our innovative ventures empower homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals to join the workforce while providing the community with important services and generating revenue to support our program operations.
Affordable & Supportive HousingAccess to safe, affordable, and supportive housing is critical to keeping vulnerable populations from homelessness. That's why The Doe Fund operates and is developing over one million square feet of transitional, affordable, and supportive housing facilities throughout New York City. These residences provide a range of vital services to individuals and families challenged with histories of poverty, substance abuse, physical disabilities, mental illness, and HIV/AIDS.
