About UsRedington-Fairview General Hospital (RFGH) has been providing care as an independent, community hospital in Skowhegan, Maine since 1952, when the first community-owned Fairview Hospital was incorporated. In 1962, a new 49-bed facility was built, and following a merger with the Redington Hospital in 1969, a new south wing was added, increasing bed capacity to 92.
In 1989 another addition was completed to allow for expansion of growing ambulatory care services. In 1993 a new Emergency Department and a newly equipped and renovated Radiology room were opened.
To ensure that RFGH would continue to provide the best health care possible for our community, a major construction and renovation project was completed in 1996. The project included a new Special Care Unit, operating suite, ambulatory surgery unit, Birthing Center, and Clinic as well as expansion of the Radiology Department, Laboratory and Oncology service.
In 2009, a new 60,000 square foot medical office building connected to the hospital at the ground and first floor levels was completed. This ecologically-friendly, three story building houses many of the hospital’s outpatient primary and specialty services including primary care, pediatrics, neurology, general surgery, OB/GYN, and orthopedic surgery.
