Reading Corps and Math Corps

Reading Corps & Math Corps combine the people power of AmeriCorps and the science of how children learn. Trained AmeriCorps members are placed in early learning centers and elementary schools statewide to serve as literacy and math tutors. Tutors work with children one-on-one and in small groups daily, providing interventions that are tailored to each learner’s needs.

About two-thirds of our students (K-12) are struggling with reading or math. If they don’t read proficiently by the end of third grade, odds are against them ever catching up. Serve with Reading Corps and join us in helping all children become successful readers. As a tutor, you’ll work one on one or in small groups with children who need extra help. Don’t have experience? No worries, our literacy experts will train you in using strategies proven to work!

This means too many students lack the skills needed for high school algebra, a gateway course for higher education and career success. Serve with Math Corps and join us in helping all youth become proficient in math. As a tutor, you’ll work with pairs of students who need extra help. Don’t have experience? No problem!
