Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Avant has adapted to a remote work environment, although our corporate office is located in the heart of downtown Chicago with picturesque views of the city’s rich architecture and river. Avant also has support offices around the country, with its main secondary location in Oak Ridge, TN.

A byproduct of the Y Combinator startup program accelerator, Avant was founded in 2012 with the goal of improving the borrowing experience for middle-income consumers. The AvantCredit name quickly became synonymous with responsible consumer lending services, a reputation that continues to this day.

Initially structured as a mid-prime lender, Avant issued its first personal unsecured loan in early 2013 using its proprietary technology to determine an individual's creditworthiness.

Avant has connected over one million customers to over $6.5 billion in loans and 200,000 credit cards. Avant is backed by some of the most well-regarded investors in the fintech space.

Avant’s goal is to become the premiere online bank for the middle class consumer. We will do so by adapting to new environments and innovating to provide market-leading digital products to our customers. We have recently expanded our product suite to include the Avant Credit Card and a Secured Personal Loan, and we will continue to release new products that change the way consumers think about digital financial products.

As of April 2020, Avant has grown from its original three founders to over 500 employees. Today, Avant is still growing rapidly and expanding our teams across business functions.
