Why Tyler?
Why Tyler

Tyler is a special place to call home. It offers much of the warmth and charm of a smaller community combined with the conveniences, services and opportunities of a much larger town. Tyler is a regional hub for education, healthcare, business, shopping, dining and entertainment with a metropolitan statistical area population over 225,000. Yet nestled in the forest and fields of the East Texas Piney Woods, it is just a short distance from the many seasonal festivals, outstanding lakes, beautiful vistas and quiet weekend getaways that help it maintain a more manageable pace of life.

Favorable Cost of Living
Featuring many national retail, restaurant and lifestyle chains available here, a robust local merchant economy, the headquarters of a major regional grocery chain and a wide choice of housing options, Tyler has a favorable cost-of-living index compared to national averages. Led by a housing index that is 21% below national levels and an overall cost-of-living index that is 8% below national averages, your money will go further here than many other locations.

Great Place To Raise A Family
Thanks to our beautiful East Texas environment and Tyler’s wealth of community resources, this is a great place to raise a family. There are 25 public parks in the city limits for all to enjoy. There are dozens of museums, seasonal celebrations, craft fairs and exhibits to offer creative enrichment. Our schools, both public and private K-12 institutions, our three college/university campuses and multiple technical training programs, all provide Tyler residents the opportunity for lifelong learning and career growth. In addition, social, special-interest, athletic and faith-based organizations abound to inspire mental, physical and spiritual growth. And our highly recognized local medical community makes Tyler the healthcare destination for all East Texas.

Lots To Do
Tyler has an extremely well-developed selection of retail, restaurant and entertainment options for a city our size. Outstanding casual to fine dining experiences abound for almost every taste. We also have an active community of establishments for evening refreshments, socializing and music. There are venues for those who love galleries, plays and national speakers and spots to find local artisans, antiques and upcycled home décor. Plus, since this is East Texas, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy camping, boating, fishing water skiing, hiking and hunting. And should you need to venture into the big city, Tyler is located just 90 miles from both Dallas, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. Lastly, Tyler is home to a regional airport where you can catch a connecting flight to any destination you need to reach.

A Bright Future
A consistent record of business growth in manufacturing, distribution, support services, technical specialties, engineering and construction fuel the expectation of a bright future for Tyler following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. In late 2019, Texas-based economy research experts, the Perryman Group, projected low unemployment, solid economic expansion and robust job growth for the area for the next five years. In addition, Tyler ranked 4th in the nation in per capita income growth in this study. Local population figures have been trending up as well. Records indicate a Tyler MSA population growth of about 3,500 residents a year.

The bottom line is that Tyler, Texas has a lot to offer and is expected to maintain a positive lifestyle outlook for the near future.
