About Townsend Hotel
The Townsend Hotel, located in the heart of the walkable downtown community and upscale shopping district of Birmingham, Mich., is a four-diamond, four-star luxury hotel. Since its grand opening in 1988, The Townsend Hotel has continuously set the standard for quality and service, with spacious rooms and suites, fine dining and exceptional amenities.
For more than 25 years, the hotel has been providing world-class service for luxurious getaways, special events or business conferences. On property, guests and visitors can enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea, an impeccable dining experience at the Rugby Grille and a gourmet coffee and handmade scone at The Townsend Bakery.
“Our guests expect the best of everything,” explains Managing Director Steven Kalczynski. “And it’s our pleasure to exceed their expectations at every visit.”
The hotel’s lobby is highlighted with traditional English décor, marble fireplaces, crystal chandeliers, custom murals and fresh floral arrangements. Afternoon Tea is served in the lobby five days-a-week, featuring a fine selection of Harney & Sons loose leaf teas, scrumptious finger sandwiches, orange cranberry scones with mascarpone cheese and homemade lemon curd and a delectable selection of miniature pastries.
The property’s 150 rooms and suites include Egyptian cotton sheets, custom Italian-made duvet covers, marble baths with deep soaking tubs and Gilchrist & Soames spa products.
The Townsend’s guest suites, some of which underwent extensive renovations in 2014, provide spacious accommodations ideal for special celebrations, entertaining or vacationing families. Exhibiting international design flair with classic good taste, the specialty suites showcase a color palate of soft neutrals, contrasted with rich walnut and mahogany wood tones. The rooms’ new textiles, including luxury bed linens, were sourced from New York-based Clarence House, one of the design industry’s most renowned fabric resources, and various artists were commissioned to create the rooms’ exclusive and original artwork.
Also on-site is a 1,100-square-foot fitness facility featuring Precor and Tectrix treadmills, recumbent bikes, Stairmasters, elliptical cross trainers and Cybex weight machines.
The Townsend Hotel offers a number of superior meeting and event facilities to accommodate gatherings from five to 500 people, including the newly renovated Townsend Ballroom, which has been home to thousands of memorable milestone celebrations.
For business travelers, The Townsend offers a state-of-the-art business center with personal computers, laser printers, scanner, copiers, fax service and high-speed Internet.
The Townsend Hotel also offers a variety of world-class dining options for guests and visitors. Diners seeking a quick and casual bite, a formal, gourmet dining experience or perhaps something in between, can find it all under one roof at the luxury property.
