Open Hand helps people prevent or better manage chronic disease through Comprehensive Nutrition Care, which combines home-delivered meals and nutrition education as a means to reinforce the connection between informed food choices and improved quality of life. With an annual budget of $11 million and a distribution of more than 1.5 million meals per year, Open Hand is one of the largest community-based providers of home-delivered meals in the country. "More than a meal", the organization provides nutrition education and counseling programs to help clients manage their health and prevent further complications. Open Hand is dedicated to using food and nutrition as tools to empower individuals to live independently and with dignity.
