Community Action South Central Michigan

Community Action was established on May 9, 1966, and is one of many Community Action agencies in the State of Michigan dedicated to promoting economic and social opportunities that help people achieve greater independence, dignity, and self sufficiency. We are a private, non-profit organization serving residents of Barry, Branch, Calhoun, and St. Joseph counties.

The programs that we provide are:

Education and Children's Services, serving over 900 children and their families in Barry, Calhoun and St. Joseph counties through Family Engagement, Head Start, Early Head Start and Great Start Readiness learning opportunities.

Transportation Services in Calhoun county, transporting seniors over 60 and those with disabilities 18 years or over to medical appointments, employment sites, grocery shopping and other trips within the county.

Home Weatherization services provides weatherization services to save energy and lower utility bills for those meeting the low-income guidelines.

Home Delivered Meals program provides homebound seniors with hot, nutritious meals Monday through Friday.

Emergency Services provides utility assistance for those meeting the low-income guidelines. Also provides first time rent assistance.
