Corporate Overview:
In December 1965, Don Ramon Aboitiz and Teotimo ‘Timo’ Abellana cofounded City Savings Bank with a simple vision, “to help people of moderate means.” They wanted to offer financial assistance to those who helped their communities but had no access to banks and banking services.
With its basic philosophy of “Simple is Good”, CitySavings offers its clients simple and straightforward banking coupled with warm and helpful customer service. The Bank retained its “small bank” personality while continuously growing their network and embracing technology to offer their customers greater convenience. Their main market are the public school teachers who they serve nationwide.
Now, a subsidiary of Union Bank of the Philippines and a member of Aboitiz Group, City Savings Bank has grown with over 100 branches nationwide and over 1,500 employees who are geared towards giving their customers easy and convenient banking experience.
Building Capabilities:
CitySavings focuses on three points for their employee's learning and development. First, is to build deep expertise in a specific function through continuous development of one’s capabilities. Second, is to develop digital core capabilities across all areas of the bank in fully transforming it to a Digital Mass Market Bank. In the spirit of Agile Ways of Working, the bank uses various approaches in learning aside from the traditional formal training. We offer different certification courses - online or even classroom-based - that are highly interactive to make everyone self-driven, and giving every employee his/her own direction in developing his/her capabilities.
Technical/Chapter Capabilities:
To build their banking foundation, every CitySavings employee has the opportunity to deepen their expertise through different certification and learning courses.
