Join our team as a support worker

Make a difference in this key worker role within our adult services. You will receive training and support to develop your career in social care.

Support worker roles

As a support worker, the rewards can be so much bigger than the challenges. You’ll become part of a UK-wide network of autism specialists and gain an in-depth knowledge of autism. But most importantly, you’ll learn through real experiences and carve your own career in social care. Many of those who join us have no previous knowledge of autism or support work. Our fantastic introduction programme and continuing learning and development opportunities help all of our staff become autism experts.

What can you expect when you join us?

You will receive an induction programme structured to welcome you to our organisation. We will guide you from your first day, to your probation period and through your first 12 months. Before you start you will be given access to online learning - which will include courses on autism, safeguarding, data protection, and equality, diversity and rights.

A full 12 month induction and training programme.
Be allocated a peer buddy.
Be assigned a learning mentor.
Regular one to ones, annual appraisals, and the support you need to develop a career in social care.

Care certificate and training

Within the first 12 weeks of working for us, we'll support you to complete the Care Certificate, a requirement for everyone working in the health and social care sector in England. We will also help you to meet the social care sector requirements for Scotland (registration to SSSC and SVQ in Social Services), Wales or Northern Ireland, if you work in one of these UK nations. You will also have the opportunity to complete other awards and diplomas relevant to your role, which includes work based training.

We have award-winning e-learning where you'll complete some of your required training, and find additional courses such as time management and handling conflict. It now includes accelerated learning Care Certificate modules. Courses also introduce you to autism so you have a deeper understanding of the people you'll be supporting. Topics include: understanding autism, communication, sensory experience, stress and anxiety.
