Rod Owens – Production Manager
Rod has been with PLI for almost one year now and is our Production Manager in Las Vegas.
Coming from the auto industry, Rod is motivated to learn the card business as it is something new and challenging. Teams and team leaders are very proud of their areas, and he enjoys working with people who take pride in their work.
One of Rod’s favorite things about PLI is the diversity! There are all types of people from all types of backgrounds working together for a common goal. It’s a team; it’s not about ‘you’ or ‘I’. Everyone helps get it done. Our VP of Operations, Chad Jones, is a very good driver. You get the support you need from HR and upper management, and he says it’s the best he’s ever seen.
In terms of values, Rod mostly appreciates how much we value safety. It’s huge! Any issue presented gets fixed. We are happy to provide a safe workplace.
When asking Rod about what makes him most proud? He feels joy in developing others to help them grow in their careers. When he sees people come in, learn the job and get the feel for it, he’s happy to show them how they can grow into other positions of increasing responsibility.
Rod’s favorite PLI benefit/perk? Our recognition/reward program called GEM (Going the Extra Mile) – it’s an opportunity for employees to recognize each other, for managers to recognize employees – really, anyone can recognize anyone for going over and beyond and displaying any of our values.
Advice for those considering joining our team? Have a mind open to new ideas because things do change periodically. Be flexible and willing to learn. Be dedicated; not only to the team but to yourself. Be a team player. Add new ideas and don’t be afraid to make suggestions.
