About Southern Kennebec Child Development Corporation
SKCDC is a private non-profit agency governed by a 15-member Board of Directors along with the Agency Director. The Board of Directors is comprised of community representatives and representatives from the Policy Council. The Policy Council represents all centers and home based, and is directly involved in major decisions that affect our child development programs. We receive funding for our programs from federal, state, United Way, and parent fees.
SKCDC serves children, ages 6 weeks to five years and provides part and full day services. In addition the agency provides a home visiting program for expectant families. SKCDC operates Head Start, Early Head Start, home based program, and child care programs in licensed facilities in Southern Kennebec County, sponsors family child care providers for participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program and operates Child Care Options which provides training for child care professionals.
