About The Governor's Academy
The Governor’s Academy
The Governor's Academy is the oldest continuously operating boarding school in the nation. Located in Byfield, Massachusetts, the Academy serves 400 students on a 450 acre campus with 48 buildings, an operating budget of roughly $19M, and an endowment of $65M. The Academy prepares students for successful futures while celebrating the traditions of a long history. Students flourish in a diverse community distinguished by enduring relationships with teachers and defined by a commitment to learning and a thoughtful balance of academics, athletics, arts and service to others.
Celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, members of the Academy have an opportunity to appreciate its rich history and traditions, and to rededicate themselves to the principles that have made the Academy so strong for so many years. Under the leadership of Peter Quimby, now in his second year as Headmaster, there is excitement on campus for the bright future of the Academy. A central part of that future involves a renewed commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion and the creation of this new senior-level position to support those efforts.
