Where we came from: Black & McDonald was founded in 1921 as a partnership between William J. McDonald and William R. Black, primarily engaged in residential electrical wiring. In the early years, when they often traveled from one job to the next on foot, Black & McDonald established its long-standing commitment to fairness, quality, its people, and its clients.
Where we are now: Today, the company is in the fourth generation of McDonald family ownership, providing multi-trade construction and maintenance services to clients across North America. Black & McDonald is a prime multi-trade contractor providing a full range of electrical, mechanical, utility and maintenance services to commercial, industrial, institutional, utility and government clients. The company is registered and licensed to do business in all provinces and territories, operating out of a network of over 25 offices across Canada and the United States, with over 5,500 employees.
