To support our communities in managing the effects of climate change, we’re working with innovative partners who are focused on innovative solutions. As the frequency, severity and costs of extreme weather increase, it is essential that we empower our communities to build climate change resiliency and help them withstand the storm.
Intact Centre for Climate Adaptation
We partnered with the University of Waterloo to fund the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation, an applied research centre that builds best practices to help homeowners, communities, governments and businesses implement solutions to lessen the impacts of climate change.
Intact Adaptation Action Grants
We help communities adapt to the effects of climate change and protect people from floods, wildfires and extreme heat through our Intact Adaptation Action Grants.
Canada-Wide Science Fair: We sponsor the Intact Climate Change Resilience Award which recognizes students who present a real-world solution that helps Canadians predict, prevent, manage or minimize the impacts of severe weather.
Together, we are creating opportunities for children and families living in poverty.
We educate ourselves on the root causes of poverty and help address its complexities by tackling it from different angles and activating local solutions, measurement frameworks and access to opportunity. As part of our annual campaign to support the United Way, Intact matches employee contributions and directs those funds to United Way programs that help improve early childhood development and promote employability, skills building and networking opportunities for parents.
Breakfast Club of Canada: Since 2018, belairdirect has partnered with the Breakfast Club of Canada to support their efforts in delivering a high-quality food program across Canada and creating a nurturing environment where children and youth can flourish, while enhancing the organization’s reach by funding an impact study.
Windmill Microlending: In 2019, Windmill became our first social venture, providing low-interest, affordable loans and resources to skilled immigrants and refugees to help them obtain the Canadian credentials they need to work in their field. Employees participate in Windmill’s mentorship program by sharing their experience and expertise.
Together, our generosity is amplified.
We amplify our employees’ generosity by matching their charitable donations dollar-for-dollar and donating $20 for every hour volunteered, to a maximum of $1,000 per employee per year.
Our employee’s passion for helping people guided our decision in 2018 to support the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security and help them establish a centre of training and learning in Rwanda. The institute leads ground-breaking research in ending the recruitment and use of child soldiers.
