About Warburtons
Thomas Warburton and his wife Ellen first opened their grocery shop in 1870, but it wasn't until 1876 during a slump in the grocery market when Ellen Warburton started baking bread. Ellen's first batch of four loaves of bread and six cakes sold out in under an hour.
A family business established in 1876, Warburtons is now run by the fifth generation of the Warburtons family Jonathan, Ross and Brett. That’s five generations’ worth of expertise that goes into making over 70 high quality, fresh bakery products including the classic Toastie and Crumpets (yum!).
We are proud to have grown to be the largest bakery brand (Nielsen, October 2020) in the UK. We produce over 2 million products every day across 11 bakeries, which are delivered fresh to 18,500 stores every morning from 18 depots across the UK.
We may be the most chosen grocery brand in the UK (Kantar, May 2020) but that doesn’t allow us to rest on our laurels. We are pioneers of the industry and ambitious market innovators, always focused on quality and driven by our values which run through everything we do. We have ambitious plans to become one of the world's best family food businesses. To achieve our aim, we're constantly diversifying our range and bringing new product innovations to the market from new loaf ideas such as our Half White Half Wholemeal to baked snacks like Bagels and Pittas.
But, by far the most important ingredient for our success is the family of over 5,000 people behind developing, creating and delivering all the incredible products that we’re famous for. Being a family business doesn’t just mean being a Warburton. It means being part of a team that works together and shares in success together. A family you can join, feel part of, grow with and call your own. And we’d loaf for you to be part of it!
