At Internews, we believe everyone deserves trustworthy news and information to make informed decisions about their lives and hold power to account. We train journalists and digital rights activists, tackle disinformation, and offer business expertise to help media outlets become financially sustainable. We do all of this in partnership with local communities – who are the people best placed to know what works.
We support independent media in 100 countries, from radio stations in refugee camps, to hyper-local news outlets, to individual activists and reporters. We’ve helped our partners reach millions of people with quality, local information that saves lives, improves livelihoods, and holds institutions accountable.

Internews’ programs are built on the conviction that everyone deserves trustworthy news and information to make informed decisions about their lives and hold power to account.
Internewsers are as diverse as the programs and countries in which we work. They all share the same spirit of love and commitment to providing local individuals with the opportunity to be heard. By doing so, Internewsers help people to effect positive change in the communities in which they live.

At Internews, we wish to transcend Diversity, Equity and Inclusion by additionally fostering a workplace environment of belonging, dignity, and justice. These are our guiding principles:
Belonging
Internews staff, partners, and the communities we serve all over the world should be treated as kindred members of our global, multicultural community. To do this, we will place understanding, rapport-building and connection first to ensure our people feel in communion with one another.
Dignity
Internews works in partnership with the communities we serve, the people best placed to know what works. To do this, we will respect and honor their lived experience and perspectives and elevate their voices.
Justice
The information sector landscape can be harmed due to control by elite gatekeepers, domination by captured media, disinformation and misinformation, or as a result of modern-day conflicts and disasters, and we wish to repair it. To do this, our work will involve supporting the information sector to evolve and be more inclusive and representative of the communities they serve.
We established these principles in June 2020 and made specific commitments about how we at Internews would address racism to ensure that our people and partners have the opportunity to genuinely thrive. These commitments and our follow through can be viewed on our website. We have also built multiple different ways for staff to get involved with making Internews a better place to work. Staff can join our:
- Stewards Coalition, a group where staff meet to talk about Belonging, Dignity and Justice and contribute to co-designing Internews' culture;
- Working Groups, groups which create the change at Internews on a certain topic (e.g. communications, policies, or recruitment); and/or
- Affinity Groups, groups formed around shared identities, interests or experiences.
At Internews, we believe that diverse teams are stronger teams. Our current team includes a global mix of genders, parents and non-parents, and people of multiple races, nationalities, ages, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are an organization of dynamic, mission-driven individuals who are passionate about our core values and about supporting positive change in the world. We are an AAP and EEO employer and encourage candidates of all races, genders, ages, orientations, ethnicities, national origins, and backgrounds (whether traditional or alternative) to apply.
