About Marshall University
If "You Are Marshall," you know that Marshall University is a state-supported institution serving about 14,000 students, including 4,000 graduate and medical students. The university offers about 70 baccalaureate and more than 50 graduate programs through more than a dozen colleges and schools. Students attend classes either at the university's main campus in Huntington, West Virginia; at its South Charleston campus; or online. Named for former Chief Justice John Marshall, the university was established in 1837. The 2006 movie, "We Are Marshall," dramatizes the aftermath of the 1970 plane crash that killed most of Marshall's Thundering Herd football team.
