First Settlement Physical Therapy (FSPT) is a family owned private practice that strives to treat its employees and patients as part of that family. We have been in business 22 years and have grown into 29 clinics throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley, with 16 in Ohio and 13 in West Virginia.
FSPT’s first clinic was founded in Marietta, OH in 1999. The company name originates from Marietta being the Northwest Territory’s first settlement so we thought First Settlement Physical Therapy would be quite fitting!
FSPT is owned by Hema Hargus; her son, Simon Hargus; her husband, Phil Hargus; and her daughter in-law, Lisa Hargus who, along with an extremely well-trained staff, help run FSPT and make it the Mid-Ohio Valley’s most trusted physical therapy provider.

First Settlement Physical Therapy is a family-owned business as well as PT owned. Because of this, we ensure the business is run in a way that puts both patient and employee satisfaction first. Our clinical staff is well-trained in the most recent best practices to help our patients in the best way we can. Our non-clinical staff is friendly and efficient, helping to guarantee that our patients have a great experience with us. All of our staff is hard-working and get great satisfaction from working together to provide the best care possible for our patients.
