About Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System
Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System’s comprehensive continuum brings quality behavioral health care services to children, adolescent and adults, ages 4 and older in Oklahoma and the south region of the United States. Located in Tulsa, Okla., Shadow Mountain is a behavioral health hospital that has been helping at risk youth with emotional issues and behavioral problems for over 30 years.
Our goal is to provide services that will enable the child or adolescent to return to a healthy, productive role within his or her family, school, work and community as quickly as possible. We utilize the least restrictive level of care, while collaborating with community resources and support systems.
Shadow Mountain was established in 1971 as Dillon Family and Youth Services. In 1980, our existing headquarters was opened in southeast Tulsa, Okla., at 61st and Sheridan.
In the past 10 years, Shadow Mountain has grown significantly to our two locations:
• Shadow Mountain Hospital And Assessment Center (Tulsa, Okla.)
• Riverside Behavioral Health Center (Tulsa, Okla.)
In 2006, Shadow Mountain opened the Riverside campus. The highly specialized residential treatment programs there treat some of our community’s most fragile children and adolescents: those with attachment disorders stemming from severe abuse and neglect, those with autism, and those with both developmental delays and mental health challenges. Shadow Mountain is a behavioral health hospital that is recognized regionally and nationally for the clinical expertise in these treatment programs.
Today, we treat more than 2,000 patients annually. Our staff of 400 mental health specialists use evidence-based interventions and counseling to help children and adolescents diagnosed with a variety of conditions, traumas, and emotional and behavioral disorders.
Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System is responsive to the changing needs of children and adolescents. This has brought to Oklahoma highly specialized residential care units, which are widely recognized for their specializations in reactive attachment disorder, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, maladaptive sexual behavior and self-harming behavior.
Overall, Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System strives to supply a comprehensive range of mental health treatment services to clients and their families, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, consultation, treatment, rehabilitation, and education. Various treatment modalities are used to give individuals a foundation upon which to build healthy, productive lives.
