Why Pinnacle Living
Our name Pinnacle Living is purposeful. We live in a period of generational and exponential change. Over the past few years, we have been working hard to evolve with the changing senior living landscape and want a name that clearly conveys how our team works and how our residents live. The name, Pinnacle Living, is the best way to communicate our team and residents’ bold steps forward into a new and better world, the one that we aspire to for ourselves and those we love, and our aspirational goals for life.

Whether in our residents’ houses or apartments, Assisted Living, Memory Support residences, or in higher levels of living, we focus on autonomy and self-direction. Our team members are dedicated to creating communities where age does not define the person.
Our History
ince our humble beginnings in 1948, Pinnacle Living, formerly known as Virginia United Methodist Homes, Inc., has grown from a single community serving seniors to several communities spread across the Commonwealth.

1948: The establishment of the Hermitage Richmond and the Snyder Memorial Home began our mission.
1964: The Roanoke District of The United Methodist Church recognized Hermitage Roanoke as part of our family of communities.

Over the next 25 years, growth and expansion continued for our organization. Dramatic changes in the expectations, needs, and demands by our residents began a whole new era for retirement communities. Pinnacle Living responded by developing and opening Cedarfield and WindsorMeade Williamsburg, helping us serve more of the growing senior population more than ever before.

Our name, Pinnacle Living, reflects our mission of Enriching Life’s Journey for those who seek independence, combined with a secure plan for the future. We are proud of our heritage and continue to operate as a mission-driven organization that welcomes people of all faiths. Our new name positions us for the future as we strive to better serve the next generation.
Leadership
With thousands of team members and volunteers working in partnership with over 1200 residents, it’s challenging to share all the good stories and lift up all the people that represent Pinnacle Living. Our passion is to focus on people. Our residents are our cause and our team are the hands that support them.

Our volunteer Board of Directors guides and assists our leadership team find the right people, pursue the right opportunities and stay focused on enriching the lives of older adults.
Careers
Pinnacle Living offers a wealth of opportunity and challenge to its team members each day. The total well-being of our residents is our main goal, and our highly qualified team members helps deliver on that promise.

Our various departments manage positions in areas including nursing, culinary services, housekeeping, security, sales and marketing, administrative and clerical, and many more.

Pinnacle Living offers our team members an outstanding work environment, a comprehensive benefits package, and competitive wages. Most importantly, our team members feel a genuine sense of family as they continue to work together with our residents to make our communities throughout Virginia the premier senior living communities they are.

But don’t just take our word for it — Pinnacle Living has been recognized by the Richmond Times-Dispatch as one of Richmond’s Top Workplaces five years in a row and was honored with this distinction once again in 2022!
Benefits
Beginning immediately and going back retroactively to the pay period beginning on October 29, 2021, Pinnacle Living will be increasing wages to $15 per hour for team members currently earning less at all of its communities across Virginia.

In addition to this wage increase, Pinnacle Living is also:

Adjusting wage rates for many team members earning between $15 and $20 per hour to reflect our commitment to its long-serving team members;
Ensuring team members not included in this pay adjustment will continue to receive annual evaluations with wage adjustments based upon tenure and work performance; and
Updating team member benefits based upon feedback from focus groups we recently conducted in each community.
Many parts of our country are facing significant employment challenges, and Pinnacle Living is no exception to this current national crisis. Raising wages to $15 per hour is not only a response to the current labor market, but it is also the right thing to do.

Pinnacle Living has historically been one of the top employers in each of the communities it serves, and we anticipate this announcement will encourage even more highly qualified candidates to consider a career at Pinnacle Living.

Our Mission at Pinnacle Living is “Enriching Life’s Journey” and we believe these changes will do just that for our team members, our residents, and everyone we serve.
