C.J. Miller's porous asphalt with a stone reservoir is a smart stormwater solution that eliminates runoff, maximizes land use and incorporates recycled materials. It allows developers to ultimately save money and land because they don’t have to put bioretention ponds on an acre or two acres that will take away from their site
In this particular project C.J. Miller began with the excavation of the subgrade profile to create a reservoir under the proposed parking lot. Multiple layers of different size aggregate were placed at the site, followed by fine grading, compaction and the placement of porous asphalt. C.J. Miller's inhouse design mix utilizes cellulose fibers in a very thick asphalt that will allow it to sustain and survive freeze-thaw cycles and natural events that are hard on asphalt.
