About British Gas
When you’ve been around for as long as we have, you recognise great talent when you see it. We know you’ve got the skills we need to power the future.

We’re delivering real solutions, for real customers and we need real people, from all kinds of different backgrounds, to make that possible.

We’re breaking down barriers and ensuring that, whatever your age, experience, gender identity or background, you can build a career with us that works for you.
Our Engineers
We’re the UK’s leading energy supply and in-home servicing provider, having looked after the homes of Britain for over 200 years. We serve over 9 million homes across the country and have a distinctive field force of around 7,500 engineers.

Whether you’re fully qualified, just starting out, or looking for a change of direction, we’ve got the right path to help you join our team.
Time for a change?
“I made the decision to retrain during my time on furlough . . . for the first time in my career I don't dread going to work or feel sick on Sunday night at the thought of doing another shift, in a dead end job. I'm 46 now – if I can retrain anyone can. I'm so proud to be working for British Gas and can't wait to get stuck in.”

Lee Teer, Newly Accredited Technical Service & Repair Engineer
Our Apprenticeships
We welcomed Reggie Yates to our offices recently to find out more about our ambitious plans to recruit 1,000 apprentices over the next 2 years – with 50% of them women. Reggie met 3 of our young apprentices, Ella, Luke and Jess – who’re already making a real difference to our customers.
Changing perceptions
"I think one of the biggest challenges in this job is changing the mindset of some people who believe women should not be engineers and the prejudice that can come with that. My perception of this career is that it’s always been a male-dominated job role. I want to represent women and play my part in showing people that anyone can work in engineering."

Ex Forces Colleagues
We're looking for more service leavers and veterans to join our team.

We’ve created a focused package of support, developed for you, by our ex-forces community.
A fresh challenge
"I truly believe the skills and values that I gained in the Army have enabled me to succeed in British Gas and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to be part of an excellent team and a fresh challenge."
