At 1921 hours on 10/20/19, MBA Communications Center received a call regarding a Traffic Collision At Hwy 62 and Peterson Rd . MBA dispatched one Medic Ambulance and while enroute received updated information that there were possibly multiple patients. The assignment was immediately augmented with 3 additional Medic Ambulances and 1 EMS Captain. The first arriving units found three critical injuries , two minor injuries and unfortunately two victims who had succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Due to the injuries and distance to the trauma center, two helicopters were requested and a landing zone was established at high desert medical center.
Learn by DoingEMS is extremely dynamic, one minute you’re doing a routine daily task and the next you could be making life and death decisions. We try to instill this in our Trainee’s and Students. In this particular instance a drill was conducted immediately following a gym session this evening with two of our Paramedic Interns from Victor Valley College. We take pride in being able to pass down our knowledge to future paramedics and EMT’s from the many educational institutions we partner with.
Wild JobOn Tuesday May 14th at 1254 MBA Medic 3 and EMS Captain 603 were dispatched to a report of an injured hiker on the Hidden Valley Loop Trail In Joshua Tree National Park along with units from the National Park Service and SBCoFD. While enroute they were updated that the hiker was approx 1 half mile in on the trail. Upon arrival at the trail head Medic 3 and Captain 603 immediately began the hike in. After reaching the patient the crew immediately treated and stabilized the patients injury. Once the National Park Service arrived with the stokes basket the crew assisted in the extraction of the injured hiker from the trail and safely transported the subject to the local ER for further treatment. This is another shining example of your community based non profit EMS agency at work.
