About UCSF Medical Center
Careers at UCSF Medical Center
Join the team that has made us a global leader in the integration of research and new treatments — all for the best possible care for patients.
Among one of the many beloved gems of the Bay Area, UCSF Medical Center is also revered as one of the most distinguished health care institutions in the world. Never resting on these laurels, our organization continually strives to be the best provider of healthcare services, the best place to work, and the best environment for teaching and research.
Our rich history can be traced back to the aftermath of the 1906 earthquake and fire. The need for an advanced teaching hospital — the first within the University of California system — was naturally evident, and a necessity for serving the future of the local San Francisco and California public.
Fast-forward over a century later and you will find that the delivery of state-of-the-art health care still continues. Among our recent accomplishments was the complete and successful transition to one of the latest, most sophisticated electronic health records systems in the country. Launched in Spring of 2012, this step is another representation of our commitment to advancing patient safety and quality of care. Our vision for tomorrow also remains traditionally intact, as we are in the midst of constructing our third hospital complex. The Mission Bay campus in San Francisco is currently taking shape and is scheduled to open in early 2015, and with it come even more opportunities for health care workers to serve children, women and cancer patients. Another plus: the opportunity to live in one of the most beautiful, diversified and exciting places in the world: the San Francisco Bay Area. As you consider a position with UCSF Medical Center, rest assured that your talent, knowledge and dedication will always be a highly valued asset with us.
Diversity at UCSF Medical Center
Throughout the State of California, diversity is valued, differences are heralded, and the contributions of every individual are celebrated. Here at UCSF Medical Center, we are also advocates of that same vision and are proud to announce that our commitment to diversity is stronger than ever. We consistently foster inclusive excellence by educating, training and employing a diverse health care faculty and staff. As we interact among a broad range of individuals from all walks of life, be it through our patients or our co-workers, we learn new practices and eagerly embrace unique points of view and perspectives. By creating a workplace where the continual flow of ideas is welcomed, a dynamic emerges where all employees feel free to maximize their talents and skills, and the most important individuals of all — our patients — reap the benefits.
Military Transition & Veteran Outreach
As you consider a transition to civilian life, let your dedicated spirit find new purpose and appreciation at UCSF Medical Center. Your years in the service have prepared you well for the numerous health care opportunities we offer — given your level of commitment and sense of duty, we know you will be well suited within our culture of excellence. You will join an organization dedicated to being the best provider of health care, the best place to work, and the best environment for teaching and research. Another source of strength comes from our strong connection with our nation’s veterans, thanks to UCSF’s close affiliation with the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. We thank you for your dedication to our country and proudly welcome you to our environment — where dedication is also second to none.
