HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) is part of the UK’s Ministry of Justice. Comprising HM Prison Service and the Probation Service, we prevent victims by changing lives.

Our focus is on reducing reoffending by rehabilitating the people in our care through education and employment.

The role of a probation officer is rewarding but can be challenging – as you often work with people with complex needs, and no two people are the same.

Working with people on probation in the community and in prisons, you’ll support them to get back on track and turn their lives around.

If you don’t have a Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP) but are interested in working with offenders, you could work as a probation services officer or in one of our Community Payback roles.
