About Orbis Education and Care
Welcome to Orbis Education and Care!

Orbis Education & Care is a sector-leading provider of specialist services for children and adults with complex needs associated with autism. We specialise in providing individualised placements for unique individuals.

For children, we offer specialist schools and residential homes that offer education, care and in-house therapeutic support, and for adults, we offer community homes. Our pioneering day services focus on work and life skills for young people and adults ensuring that learning continues into adulthood.

Our focus is on supporting individuals: their needs as well as their strengths, interests and aspirations, in order to help them to become as independent and fulfilled as possible.

It is our mission to provide bright, safe and stimulating environments that embrace individuality, inspire confidence, self-esteem and support lifelong learning.

Our priority is to improve and maintain the quality of life for the children and adults in our care.

We are always interested to hear from people who are as passionate as we are in helping people to live their best life.

Whilst some staff join us from within the care or education sectors, many others join us straight from college or university, or from other sectors wanting a change of direction or career. We offer full training and support.

We offer a lifelong career that offers ongoing learning, development and progression. In fact, many of our managers and senior management team started as support workers or learning support assistants, and are now service managers, area managers and directors. Others move into therapeutic roles and work towards professional qualifications.

We offer a wide range of benefits for our staff, including:
- Refer a Friend - By referring a friend to a Support Worker role, Orbis staff and their new starter will be eligible for £300 each following their first shift, and another £300 each following their 3 month anniversary at Orbis.

- Orbis For You - Great discounts on online and high street retailers, gyms and many more!

- Employee Assistance Programme - Confidential employee counselling for those wanting to look after the mental health of themselves or their families.

Active investment in key qualifications to ensure staff can continue to demonstrate and continuously improve their competence in specific areas.

- Salary Finance - A financial wellbeing platform that aims to help people become financially happier and healthier.

- Learning and Development - We offer an extensive range of opportunities for our staff to further their learning, improve their skillset and better their chances of climbing the Orbis ladder!

- Competitive Salary Scales.

- Competitive annual leave allowance.

- Company pension scheme.
TH secures his first ever job with Orbis' Academy Living
Recently, we celebrated a massive achievement for Academy Living and for one of our amazing individuals, TH. TH started his first shift yesterday at Murray's restaurant in Bargoed as a waiter. It has been a dream for TH and his family for him to gain employment, as TH has "always wanted to be like his older brother".

We are so proud of the effort from our Academy Living team in sourcing employment for TH and many others this year. It's been incredible to see the work ethic of our individuals too, who have been working hard to build their portfolios to be able to secure employment in the community.

Our focus this year in Academy Living has been on breaking down barriers that people with learning disabilities face within employment. The support TH received from the kind and respectful team at Murray's restaurant was simply outstanding.
AJ begins work with Orbis!
Huge congratulations to AJ, who started his paid work placement as one of our Induction Welcome Champions this week at The Grand Hotel in Swansea!

AJ looked very smart on his first day as he introduced himself to everyone. He demonstrated the importance of staff promoting independence to the people we support and even joined in on an induction group activity to highlight the qualities needed in a Support Worker from his perspective.

Well done, AJ! Welcome to the Orbis team!
Everyone loves a National Take a Hike Day!
As we reflect on National Take a Hike Day, we wanted to share some fantastic photos of our individuals and teams who have recently gone on their own hiking adventures up to the summit of Pen Y Fan.

Our teams have recently undertaken a number of fundraising walks to raise money for some incredibly worthy causes. It's been a joy to see the smiles on their faces and to hear of how much they enjoyed their excursions.
Orbis celebrates the kindness of staff
To celebrate World Kindness Day, we wanted to shine a light on the incredible kindness shown by our staff throughout the organisation.

Whether it's helping individuals to complete a piece of work at school or supporting them to grow fresh produce in the Academy Living allotment, kindness is at the forefront of everything they do!

Every day, we hear inspiring stories of how our staff demonstrate kindness and generosity in their roles. Their unwavering support to individuals and colleagues is fantastic to see, and we couldn't be prouder to have them on our team.
Orbis showcase the environmental work being completed across all services.
As the topic of climate change has dominated the headlines over the last few years, we wanted to showcase some of the incredible work our Orbis teams do to protect the planet.

There are many pupils in our schools who have a keen interest in the environment and the world around them. Our Eco Clubs provide a haven for children who want to help the schools run as efficiently and environmentally friendly as possible.

To help our schools stay green, the Eco Clubs run a wide range of activities such as:
- Recycling projects.
- Working around the garden.
- Learning about nature and the environment.
- Monitoring the use of power points at our facilities
Orbis Fundraising Walk for Disability Sport Wales
Mission Accomplished!

In October, teams from Orbis' Academy Living team and our adult homes completed the fundraising climb to the top of Pen Y Fan!

Everyone was fantastic throughout the day, chatting to each other and fellow walkers, and supporting each other every step of the way.

It was a great day for all as the group reached their target of raising £500 for Disability Sport Wales.
Fun day at Summergil House
To celebrate the amazing work of Orbis staff over the last two years, Orbis decided to host two Orbis Fun Days for Orbis staff and their families to enjoy and unwind.

As a token of the organisations' thanks for all of their hard work, staff were treated to live music, assault courses and even some gladiator inflatables!

The work of the teams across the organisation never goes unnoticed and the Orbis Fun Days were just one of the many ways Orbis hopes to thank them for their commitment.
