About RTI International
RTI International is an independent, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition. Clients rely on us to answer questions that demand an objective and multidisciplinary approach—one that integrates expertise across the social and laboratory sciences, engineering, and international development.
Combining scientific rigor and technical proficiency, we deliver reliable data, thorough analysis, innovative methods, novel technologies, and sustainable programs that help clients inform public policy and ground practice in evidence. We scale our approach to fit the demands of each project, delivering the power of a global leader and the passion of a local partner.
We believe in the promise of science, and we push ourselves every day to deliver on that promise for the good of people, communities, and businesses around the world.

For more than 25 years, RTI International experts have helped clients build resilient health systems and improve public health. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are working quickly to lessen its impact. Although COVID-19 is a novel virus presenting unprecedented challenges, RTI offers broad and deep experience to address a variety of public health threats—including Ebola, Zika, tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV—and improving the underlying systems where they occur and the effects they leave in their wake.
We have collected our work around COVID-19 as a centralized resource and will update as new work is completed and additional insights are developed.

Our IMPACT is defined by the results of the projects we tackle on behalf of clients around the world. We share our findings through peer-reviewed publications, presentations at scientific conferences, and public release to the media.
Each year, our researchers are published in more than 600 journal articles, reports, conference proceedings, books, chapters and other publications. As scientists, researchers and thought leaders, contributing to the advancement of our fields comes second only to the pursuit of our mission. Through these efforts, we strive to communicate the results of our independent, objective research as a way of advancing our understanding of the world and informing decisions that will carry us into a better future.
We view each project—regardless of size—as an opportunity to drive positive change through new information, best practices, novel methods, and an integrated, multidisciplinary approach. No matter what our projects demand or where they take us, we bring a deep commitment to exceeding our clients’ expectations and a strong sense of mission shared
We maintain offices around the world to support our ongoing projects and the evolving needs of our clients and the communities and individuals they serve. We have designed and implemented projects in more than 140 countries and have more than 50 years of international experience.

Embracing the differing worldviews created by diverse backgrounds
At RTI we recognize that diverse backgrounds inform different views that help create a hub of ideas that drive our pursuit of world-changing innovations. Our cultural, ethnic, gender and intellectual diversity helps generate opportunities to foster creative solutions and teamwork.
Fulfilling our potential through respect, equity and value
From our research, to community involvement, to outreach, we apply our principles of diversity and inclusion globally at every level and function of our organization. Our commitment to honoring these principles has helped us create a diverse team that uses an inclusive environment as a springboard to improving the human condition. We have also turned a lens on ourselves, reaching out to employees to ask for their views on diversity and inclusion at RTI and how they would like to see their organization grow.
The result of our efforts? Skyrocketing employee engagement and a leadership culture shift unlike ever before. When our staff sees something they think doesn’t live up to the diversity and inclusion (D&I) ideals we’ve set forth, we encourage them to not only say something but to do something. Some of these workplace champions see their work commemorated with a D&I in Action award, while others benefit from the overarching improvements to the RTI community.
Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) provide employees with opportunities to network and engage in advocacy
Each of our ERGs serves as a community in which members voluntarily contribute their shared knowledge and collective experiences to enhance professional growth, promote multicultural understanding, and positively affect the RTI mission. The ERGs offer a forum for members to discuss relevant challenges and opportunities, and they enable joint efforts around common areas of interest. ERG activities include hosting speaker series, performing community service, organizing and attending professional development conferences, and leading diversity celebrations.
