The Florida Judicial Branch serves up justice through trial courts, district courts of appeal, and a supreme court. The judicial branch is responsible for interpreting the law and determining the application of the state's constitution. Sitting atop the court system, the Florida Supreme Court determines the constitutionality of statutes, has authority to issue advisory opinions to the governor, and maintains administrative responsibilities over lower courts. The state's five district courts of appeal serve as intermediate appellate courts, receiving appeals from various trial courts, which include county and circuit courts.
