About The Broadmoor
Broadmoor Hotel is a luxury hotel resort located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The 700-room hotel surrounds a lake on 3,000 acres at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. It has nearly 20 restaurants and bars, three pools, a spa, some 185,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, and 25 retail stores. Its tennis and golf complexes are regularly ranked among the nation's best, with camps run by Hall-of-Fame member Dennis Ralston. The Broadmoor is also where President George W. Bush is said to have consumed his last drink, while wildly celebrating his 40th birthday at the hotel in 1986. The Broadmoor is owned by Oklahoma Publishing Company, publisher of the Daily Oklahoman newspaper.

In 2010 the company embarked on three projects totaling $7.5 million: work was completed on enhancing the lobby, meeting rooms, and guest rooms of Broadmoor West.  The improvements are part of a major project, announced in 2008, to spend some $55 million on renovation activities throughout the property.

James Pourtales, a Prussian count, opened a casino and hotel on the Broadmoor property in 1891. Several years later Spencer Penrose, a Pennsylvania blue blood who made a fortune mining gold and copper in Colorado and Utah, purchased the Broadmoor and by 1918 turned it into a resort with more guest rooms and a golf course. Today the Broadmoor is a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts collection.
