About City Year

City Year helps students and schools succeed. Diverse teams of City Year AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms and the whole school, helping to ensure that students in systemically under-resourced schools receive a high-quality education that prepares them with the skills and mindsets to thrive and contribute to their community. A 2015 study shows that schools that partner with City Year were up to two-to-three times more likely to improve on math and English assessments.

A proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network, City Year is supported by the Corporation for National and Community Service, local school districts and private philanthropy. City Year partners with public schools in 29 communities across the U.S. and through international affiliates in the U.K. and South Africa. Learn more at www.cityyear.org or on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Apply to City Year
City Year AmeriCorps members play a critical role in helping students reconnect with their school community, re-engage in their learning and recover from interrupted learning as a result of COVID-19.

When you join City Year, you work alongside a team to create learning environments where all students can succeed. As you earn a stipend, you help support students' social, emotional and academic development while providing schools with additional capacity to enhance learning and belonging. Are you ready?
The City Year Experience
You see students with the strength and desire to offer so much to the world but without proper access to the learning environments they need to thrive. So, you work with a diverse team made up of people of different backgrounds, identities, and perspectives. Together you get stronger, learn from each other and build each other up.
Serving in the Classroom
With City Year, you help students build on their strengths and take risks in their learning. Sitting alongside students, rotating through the classroom, and occasionally taking students aside, you help them develop key skills—social, emotional and academic.
Partnering with Schools and Teachers
In between helping students learn and build their confidence, you work with your team and team leaders to identify strategies and address concerns. You meet with your partner teacher to see how you, collectively, can help each student achieve everything they want.
