About Hollander Home Fashions
Hollander Home Fashions may not come to mind as you lie in bed counting Little Bo Peep's flock, but perhaps it should. The firm produces about 30 million pillows a year as a top manufacturer of pillows worldwide. In addition, Hollander makes blankets, down comforters, featherbeds, mattress pads, and other bedding products for the likes of Laura Ashley, Karen Neuberger, and Simmons, and is getting into the hospitality market. For years, the firm generated private-label store brands for well-known retailers, including Wal-Mart and J. C. Penney. Its name-brand line is available at such retailers as Bed Bath & Beyond and Marshall's. Founded in 1953 by Bernard Hollander, the company is run by his grandson, Jeff.

While many companies in the manufacturing sector were ailing during the economic downturn, bedding and linens maker Hollander received a cash infusion, via a debt and equity deal, in 2009 that will fuel its growth. Huntsman Gay Global Capital, a private equity firm, became Hollander's majority owner in August 2009. As part of the agreement, executives Jeff Hollander and Chris Baker continued at the helm and the company dropped "Corporation" from its name and changed it to Hollander Home Fashions, LLC. Under new ownership, Hollander plans to focus on boosting its market share across the business, but particularly in the natural fills niche.

Overall, Hollander concentrates on its basic bedding division, which accounts for most of its revenues. To ensure that the company maintains its hefty bedding sales, Hollander partnered with the Versailles Foundation in early 2010. The textiles firm inked a licensing agreement with the foundation to become the exclusive provider of Court of Versailles-branded basic bedding. The collection, which includes synthetic- and natural-fill pillows, comforters, and mattress pads, debuted in March 2010.

Following the retirement of longtime executive David Sides in late 2009, Hollander spent some six months searching for and appointing executives to help steer the company in existing areas and in new directions. The company boosted its leadership in the areas of sales, merchandising, and hospitality. Hollander's hiring of Adam Petricoff in early 2010 was the textiles maker's bid to get a foothold in the hospitality market. Petricoff joined Hollander from Springs Global, where he managed accounts with Disney, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, and Costco, for basic bedding, blankets, and window items. Prior to Springs Global, Petricoff held senior management positions at Pillowtex.

The firm has been expanding its network of manufacturing operations in response to worldwide demand. In addition to facilities in the US and Canada, Hollander oversees production in China and Germany, which helps to service the European market.
