We believe diversity and inclusion foster welcoming environments that nurture creativity and promote collaboration, benefiting our Associates, clients, and customers. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion allows us to: build a highly skilled workforce that reflects our diverse client and customer base; drive business results, provide innovative products and services to our customers. Continued partnerships with our vast supplier network allow us to expand the breadth of available products and better anticipate the needs of the multicultural marketplaces across the country. We raise awareness of our diversity and inclusion strategy through three key focus areas, People, Culture, and Community. The execution of this strategy is showcased through various means, here are a few:
Our people build awareness through our multiple diversity and inclusion trainings. Topics include but are not limited to, Unconscious Bias, Inclusive Leadership, Connecting with Respect, Cultural Competence, and much more.
We build culture through the Empowerment Resource Groups. The Diversity and Inclusion Action Councils (DIACs) are leveraged as change agents throughout the organization. They act as an action-oriented advisory committee, serving as the D & I conscience of senior leaders. They support the increase of diversity and inclusion education and associate engagement across the organization.
Canteen is a proud supporter of the Leadership Legacy Network (LLN), an organization that is committed to career growth by encouraging the professional development of its members. Canteen supports the VetNet’s goal of promoting veteran recruitment, providing growth opportunities, and honoring military service.
We aim to build community within the organization and are intentional about supporting the communities we serve. We continually seek out new partnerships to make a meaningful impact.

We’ve been on this prestigious list since its inception, but this year we hit a milestone. Compass ranked 153 overall out of 500 companies on the list, improving our ranking by more than 60 places from 2020. This recognition comes on the heels of another accomplishment; being named one of the World's Most Admired Companies by Fortune in 2021.
SUPPLIER DIVERSITY
Canteen’s supplier diversity mission is to proactively identify, build relationships with, and purchase goods from certified diverse suppliers. So, we analyzed the market, ran the numbers, and tasted a few things to choose four certified brands that represent our diversity mission. We’re not telling you what to do, but if you haven’t tried these delicious treats, you’re missing out.
