Michigan First Credit Union

Michigan First is honored to have been chosen as a Best and Brightest Company to Work for in West Michigan, Metropolitan Detroit and nationally for several years in a row. We are also a multi-time winner of the Detroit Free Press's Top Work Places Awards, Crain's Detroit Business's Cool Places to Work and have been honored as a veteran-friendly employer by the Michigan Veteran's Affairs Agency.

Each year, Michigan First works with the Goodfellows to provide Christmas presents for children in need.

Michigan First partners with the Detroit Red Wings to provide college scholarships to students at several Red Wings home games each season. In addition, Michigan First hosts it's own scholarship program, which gives away $85,000 in college scholarships each year to members.

Throughout the year, Michigan First hosts several team appreciation days. Food and activities are often provided, including the "dunk an executive" tank pictured.

The First For Good initiative is a random acts of kindness campaign, where team members randomly surprise people with ice cream, free lunches, coffee for students studying for finals, etc. In addition, First for Good is responsible for charitable work in the communities we serve, participating in activities such as blanket-making for children's hospitals and more.

Tigers Opening Day is a big deal at Michigan First. Each year, team members are encouraged to wear Tigers gear to work, watch a portion of the game on TV and enjoy a free lunch on the company.

Originally founded as Detroit Teachers Credit Union, education has long been the backbone of our credit union. We provide scholarship programs for students and regularly donate money to schools and teachers to improve their classrooms and facilities.

Michigan First has partnerships with many local colleges and universities. We often participate in their athletic programs and host halftime games for students to win money for textbooks and school supplies.

Michigan First has partnerships with the Detroit Red Wings, Grand Rapids Griffins, United Shore Professional Baseball League, West Michigan White Caps and more. Team members get the opportunity to attend games, participate in team building events and more.
