Why Choose Us
Monterey Mushrooms Scholarship Program
A good farmer tends their crops. At Monterey Mushrooms, that means giving each other, and our families, what they need to grow. So that’s exactly what we do.
Since 1992, more than 2.8 million dollars has been awarded to the children of full time employees in a program that honors Carl Victor Fields, Monterey Mushrooms’ former Vice President of Marketing. The annual scholarships are a passion project of CEO Shah Kazemi, a dad, grandfather and three time college grad, holding double bachelor degrees and an M.B.A.
The Food
On our mushroom farms, food brings people together.
Working in the dirt, in the sun and in the rain isn’t always easy. Sometimes the best cure for a long day is a heaping plate of something homemade. So we serve up good food and good company, as often as we can.
Whether it’s a birthday, work anniversary, holiday or just Wednesday, we’re probably having a potluck. Everyone serves up the recipe they’re most proud in our family-style, help-yourself get-togethers.
The Fun
We’re a company of folks that thinks work should be fun. We enjoy what we do, why we do it and we enjoy each other’s company. So we’re always finding ways to have more fun together.
Every one of our farms has a different personality, decorates a little differently for the holidays and hosts its own celebrations like baby showers and potlucks.
Our corporate headquarters gets in on the fun in their own way, like serving meals together at local soup kitchens or donating to our holiday toy drive and decorating a giant company Christmas tree.
Out in the world, Monterey Mushrooms is proud to participate in some mushroom festivals, serving up our fresh mushrooms in Portabella tacos or Let’s Blend sliders and donating our proceeds to local charities.

The Finest Folks We Know
Mushrooms don’t stop growing. So, we tend, pick, pack and deliver our crops 365 days a year.
It’s a big job.
At the heart of that operation is a group of folks that dedicate themselves to their work, and to each other, day in and day out.
They’re who Monterey Mushrooms is, they’re how we succeed and they’re the reason we’re the industry leader in fresh mushrooms across North America.
The Family
At Monterey Mushrooms, a lot of our team is literally family. For the rest of us, it just feels that way. We’re home to husbands and wives, as well as parents and generations of their children.
Even if we’re not all really related, many of us have been working together for decades. And that’s something special.

We Don’t Just Pick Good People, We Grow Them.
When it comes to joining the Monterey Mushrooms® team, what you know about mushrooms matters a lot less than what you’re made of. Mushroom growing is unique, even within the diverse produce industry.
From coast to coast, we look for humble, hardworking and down-to-earth people. Our cultural character exudes trust, respect, integrity and passion.
At the heart of our operation we’re farmers, and some of our most important work happens wearing jeans and boots. From pickers to vice presidents, we get our hands dirty!
From the highest levels of management to our employees in every corner of our operation, we’re a loyal bunch. Husbands, wives and generations of families work side-by-side, for decades. Maybe it’s because we invest our time in tending the people we already have, growing together and promoting from within. In fact, many of our management joined Monterey Mushrooms as growers on our farms.
So if you’re the kind of humble and down-to-earth hard worker that folks rely on, find yourself a spot and grow with us.
For even more hourly roles at a farm or facility near you, stop on by and ask.
