Diversity
At Nordstrom, we value the richness that diversity brings to our company—it makes us better and the communities we serve stronger. We're deeply committed to cultivating an environment where the contributions of every employee, customer and vendor are respected and apprecited.

OUR PEOPLE

Our people are the foundation of who we are as a company. Attracting, hiring and retaining diverse talent enable us to be more innovative and better serve our employees, customers and communities.

RECRUITING AND HIRING
Nordstrom is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to recruiting, hiring, training and promoting qualified people of all backgrounds, regardless of sex; race; color; creed; national origin; religion; age; marital status; pregnancy; physical, mental or sensory disability; sexual orientation or gender identity. We offer a wide range of benefits to our employees, their spouses and dependents, including life partners of eligible employees.

We've made great strides in recruiting qualified and enthusiastic candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences. In 1988, 15.7% of Nordstrom managers were people of color. In 2016, of our company's total employment, 53% are people of color and 70% are women, while 40.7% of our management population is comprised of people of color and 69.4% are women.

Giving Back
We work hard to be a company our employees and customers can be proud of. For us, that means doing our part to take care of our communities and respect the environment.

As a company, each year we support hundreds of nonprofits in the communities where we do business. We know this idea of giving back is important to our people, too. Through our Employee Charitable Match and Volunteer Program, we provide up to $5,000 annually per employee to match their personal contributions of cash or volunteer time to qualified nonprofit organizations.

Our employees are also helping us to minimize the impact our business has on the environment through things like reducing our carbon footprint, conserving resources, and offering sustainable and healthier products in our stores and restaurants.
