About First National Bank Texas
First National Bank Texas (FNBT) and First Convenience Bank (FCB), a division of FNBT, remain dedicated to providing customers with quality financial products and services. Our bank was originally founded in 1901 in the Central Texas town of Killeen, only 19 years after the city was established. From our humble beginnings, we have grown to over $3.7 billion in assets and operate in over 340 locations in Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, and New Mexico.

Our bank has grown in many ways over the years, but our focus and commitment remain the same—providing customers with great banking solutions and world-class service. More than a century ago, we began the tradition of being a great community bank focused on the financial success of our customers. Today, more than 3,200 dedicated banking professionals carry on and maintain that established custom.

We offer 7-day banking with extended hours plus Online Services and innovative, customer-friendly services, such as a variety of checking and savings accounts, business accounts, CDs, IRAs, credit cards, consumer and business loans, and mortgages.

So much has changed since 1901, but our commitment to putting our customers first has not. As we continue to grow and serve customers, we remain committed to providing a combination of modern banking convenience and old-fashioned service.
First National Bank Texas Wins Top Statewide Best of Community Banking Award
The Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) honored First National Bank Texas (FNBT) with two Best of Community Banking (BOCB) Awards. The bank received a Silver Eagle award for its community service entry and the "Best of Show" award, which is the competition's top honor.

In 2021, as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to impact communities across the country, FNBT continued efforts to deliver financial literacy classes, leveraging its two-prong approach: in-person financial literacy classes and virtual financial literacy classes.

FNBT's bankers, committed to making a difference, also collaborated with their local Habitat for Humanity chapters in order to volunteer their time. Forty-two compassionate bankers volunteered 200 hours to contribute to eight housing builds associated with Habitat for Humanity.

BOCB Awards recognize community banks throughout the state for their innovation, creativity and success in fulfilling a specific community or internal need. 2022 marks the 31st year that IBAT has celebrated these outstanding accomplishments of Texas community banks. The Best of Community Banking competition is designed to honor banks for their commitment to helping their customers, employees, neighbors and community, and community banks, such as First National Bank Texas, play a critical role in our local communities.
$10K HAVEN Grant Assists US Military Veteran with Home Repairs
LUBBOCK, TEXAS, (November 4, 2022)—U.S. military veteran Angel Flores has traveled the world for 16 years as a member of the Marine Corps, the Army and the National Guard before medically retiring in 2014. During that time, he got married and started a family, and after returning to his hometown of Lubbock, Texas, purchased a home.

His family which includes a teenager and two adult children who work and attend school, endured nearly two years of extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, without a working central heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system (HVAC). “We relied on window units and space heaters for years,” said Mr. Flores. “This wasn’t an ideal solution, but that’s what we were able to afford.”

Now, Mr. Flores has a new HVAC system thanks to a $10,000 Housing Assistance for Veterans (HAVEN) grant from First National Bank Texas (FNBT) and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas). “With winter coming up, we’re so grateful to have been selected for the HAVEN grant and to finally have a working system again. We can be so much more comfortable in our home now,” he said. “My family and I are so appreciative for this assistance from FNBT and FHLB Dallas. It has truly been a Godsend.”

Representatives from both banks joined the Flores family for a check presentation at the Flores home. The event was also attended by staffer Joel Riedel, from the office of U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and staffer Kaci Morris from the office of State Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19).

April Niswonger, assistant vice president at FNBT, said being able to share this experience with others is fulfilling. “As a community bank, awarding this HAVEN grant was an impactful experience for us. We are just as thrilled for Mr. Flores to have these home renovations, which will now increase the comfort level in the home,” she said. “Taking care of veterans and their families is a high priority for us, and the HAVEN grant through FHLB Dallas is a great way to achieve this goal.”

Greg Hettrick, first vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas, says HAVEN is a unique program because it specifically reaches military veterans and their families.“It takes strong community partners like FNBT to disburse HAVEN grants and help those that have served,” he said. “HAVEN is a great tool for our members to invest in their communities while assisting men and women of the armed forces.”
$72,000 to the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity
DALLAS, TEXAS, (August 4, 2022)—First National Bank Texas (FNBT) and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) presented $72,000 to the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity in a ceremonial check presentation on Wednesday.

FNBT and FHLB Dallas provided the funding from FHLB Dallas’ Homebuyer Equity Leverage Partnership (HELP) program in 2022 to help 12 income-qualified, first-time homebuyers with down payment and closing cost expenses connected to the construction of their homes through Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity.

Kellye Coleman, a 37-year-old customer service representative and single mother of three, had been dreaming of making the transition from renting to homeownership as the rent on her two-bedroom apartment increased each year. Thanks to a no-interest mortgage from Dallas Area Habitat and a $6,000 HELP subsidy, she moved into a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Dallas’ historic Joppa neighborhood in May.

“I have always wanted to give my children their own bedrooms,” Ms. Coleman said. “We have a huge yard now, and my kids can just run and play outside which they have never been able to do before.”

In addition to having their own backyard, Ms. Coleman’s children live close to their schools and can enjoy nearby nature trails.

“Down payments and closing costs can be barriers to homeownership, and we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to partner with FHLB Dallas to contribute to the purchasing of new affordable homes in the Dallas metropolitan area,” said Pedro Beascochea Jr., vice president Community Development Innovation specialist at First National Bank Texas.

HELP subsidies are offered by FHLB Dallas through its member institutions to assist first-time homebuyers with down payments and closing costs on new or existing homes. For 2022, FHLB Dallas set aside $4 million for HELP subsidies made available through its members on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We are honored to partner with FNBT to make the dream of homeownership a reality for Ms. Coleman and the 11 other families who have moved into these homes,” said Bruce Hatton, vice president and Affordable Housing Program manager at FHLB Dallas.
