Why Work Here
Positive People

We are not just an energy company—we are a company of dedicated employees positioning ourselves to be recognized as the best energy company in the nation by 2020. We are committed to always finding ways to improve customer service and demonstrate leadership, be a catalyst for clean energy change, leverage and expand our strong community commitment, and continue to work together to build an engaged, empowered and diverse workforce.

We live out our mission of delivering reliable energy and superior customer service in our daily work, in community service and leadership, and in doing the right thing for our customers, co-workers, shareholders and the environment.

You're Invited

Hard work and dedication to the job are a given. Having fun and building relationships is the icing on the cake. Once you join Eversource, you’ll have opportunities to join fellow employees at volunteer events, running in marathons, competing in lineworker “rodeos,” and offering your insight and experiences within one of our diversity and inclusion initiatives, such as a business resource group. By working hard and playing hard, too, we strike a balance that’s good for you and our business.

Powerful Values

Inherent to our mission is our responsibility to demonstrate inclusive, respectful, honest and ethical behavior in all we do. These values are the foundation of our organization and define how we conduct business and treat our customers, vendors, communities, regulators, shareholders—and each other—every single day.

Eversource operates New England's largest utility system, safely serving more than 3.6 million electric and natural gas customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. And we are dedicated to this region and our communities, as well as the people, energy and technology so vital to its security, stability and economic strength.

Creating an inclusive and respectful workplace brings us together as one company to leverage diverse perspectives and focus on delivering reliable energy and superior customer service. Our diverse workforce and inclusive culture creates trusted relationships with employees, customers, contractors, suppliers and community partners.

Diversity at Eversource means more than building an organization to represent and reflect the diverse communities where we live and work. It is also about becoming aware of and embracing the different cultures and backgrounds each of our colleagues bring to the company. Our company benefits from a diverse employee workforce when each employee contributes ideas based on his or her experiences and background. Ultimately, inclusion is having an engaged workforce where everyone feels valued, respected and welcome.

At Eversource, we are committed to:

1. Creating an inclusive workplace where all employees, customers and stakeholders are respected and valued.
2. Leveraging the talent, unique perspectives, cultural and life experiences of every employee to ensure our continued success.
3. Attracting, developing and retaining a diverse workforce that can work together to meet the changing needs of the customers we serve, and deliver reliable energy and superior customer service.

Business Resource Groups

Business Resource Groups have been formed for each of the states Eversource serves: Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Supported by executive sponsors, each team plays an important role in supporting, representing and advocating for the unique needs and perspectives of our employees, customers and stakeholders across the geographic areas. In addition, our Business Resource Groups identify and recommend actions to build a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our four resource groups currently include a women’s group, a new hire group, a veterans’ group and a multicultural group.

Miguel–LNG Operations Manager

A native of the Dominican Republic, Miguel immigrated to the U.S. in 2008. He self-studied English while working seven days a week as a cook. Prior to joining Eversource in 2011, he enrolled in an engineering development program where he gained experience in several operating areas, including meter services, instrumentation and regulation, and LNG operations.

Miguel says he is thankful for the opportunities he’s been given to develop and grow professionally at Eversource and praises his management team “for being supportive and appreciative of my work since day one.” While at Eversource, Miguel says he has acquired a deeper understanding of the role of local distribution companies in the energy sector as they interact with state and federal regulatory entities. And today, he proudly serves on Eversource’s Massachusetts Diversity and Inclusion Council, while also taking advantage of the company’s reimbursement program as he works toward his MBA at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Holly–Electrical System Engineer

Holly turned her degree in Mechanical Industrial Engineering into a career as an Engineer at Eversource. She also has a unique advantage of having spent time in the field as an on-call supervisor working on the electrical system alongside the same crews she now guides from the dispatch center. According to her colleagues, “Holly is an excellent dispatcher—cool under pressure and ready to make critical decisions affecting the safety of the crews and reliability of the electrical system, while making sure power is restored quickly and safely to our customers.”

Amy–Senior Analyst

A Senior Analyst in Energy Efficiency, Amy is working towards her ninth marathon finish! Here, she powers through a rigorous training program to prepare for the annual Eversource Hartford Marathon HMF Events (Hartford Marathon Foundation). “I believe in the company I work for and I love to run, so it was an obvious choice!” she says. In her work, Amy says she loves to lead initiatives that allow her to learn more about our customers and develop strategies to meet their changing needs. "It's exciting taking the lead in helping to improve the customer experience not only within energy efficiency, but with Eversource as a whole.”

Chasity- Customer Service

Chasity has worked in the customer service field for 11 years —her entire career. While at Eversource, she has served on the front lines with kindness and compassion, reassuring customers experiencing outages and helping to gather vital information for crews in the field. Eversource employees like Chasity are the first voice our customers hear when they call for help. Through quick thinking and a deep knowledge of the business, our customer service representatives help resolve problems and empower customers with ways to reduce energy costs through energy efficiency.

“The best part of my job is helping people when they call,” says Chasity. “The hardest part is during storms and an elderly person calls because they’re out of power. I just want to turn it back on for them right away. I can’t do that, but I can explain how the process of restoring power works, which really helps them understand and lets them know they haven’t been forgotten.”

Matt–Lineworker

Matt says he always wanted to be a Lineworker. He gets to be outside, meet new people, work at various sites and solve different challenges every day. According to Matt, the best part of his job is that every day is different. “I can work on a variety of things from service, line extension or do underground work.” Yet, whatever the task, he says safety is always top of mind here at Eversource and he likes that he can utilize what he learns on the job and apply it to his home. Matt’s advice to new Lineworkers is “pay attention, be careful, and embrace the lifestyle because the rewards are worth it!” Matt also says he enjoys the camaraderie that exists among coworkers at Eversource. “My team is not only a great group to work with, we also enjoy time together outside of work, whether it’s playing in pick-up hockey games or getting together for golf tournaments.”

Military & Vets
Continue to be of GREAT SERVICE to your career and our COMMUNITIES.

The desire and ability to do good work and better the lives of others. Leadership, pride, accountability and decisiveness. It’s everything you’ve exhibited in your military service and what we want you to bring to us every day here at Eversource.

Eversource has a long and rich history that brings with it an understanding and appreciative culture for the brave men and women who serve our country. As our industry continues to grow and expand, so does the need for advanced technical skills. That’s why we actively seek out military veterans who can make an important contribution to our organization, as well as the communities we serve, by providing more clean, affordable and innovative energy solutions on their behalf.

Every Day is Veterans Day Here at Eversource

That’s because we know that hiring a military veteran is one of the best decisions an organization can make. You’re team players, and you know how to lead and serve with passion and pride. From tours in Iraq and the Gulf War to active duty during the Vietnam War, more than 600 of our employees have proudly served our country. Leadership, discipline, integrity and teamwork are exactly the qualities we look for to fill our positions. We welcome you to apply for a career at Eversource and put your hard-earned military skills and experience to work.

Leadership, discipline, integrity and teamwork are exactly the qualities we look for to fill our positions. We welcome you to apply for a career at Eversource and put your hard-earned military skills and experience to work for a brighter future for all.

Our Bedford, NH work center crews, co-workers and Eversource Leadership threw a surprise “Welcome Home” ceremony for Lineworker Apprentice John—a First Lieutenant with the 744th Forward Support Company, Army National Guard—who recently returned to work after a year of active duty in the Middle East.

After a successful 12-year career with the Navy, Evelyn is now proudly serving as a Substation Supervisor at our Connecticut Work Center.

Elizabeth has the nick-name “Nuke” because she served onboard a nuclear-powered supercarrier in the Navy. The skills she learned in the Navy transferred easily to a career with Eversource. Why Eversource? “The mission of the company is to keep the power on and the gas flowing, and everybody plays a part in that. As I learn every part of the job while I’m in training—just like onboard the carrier—safety is the No. 1 priority. So right now, as an inside supervisor, I’m making sure everything is in order, that the crews know where they’re going, that they have the switching orders in place to keep them safe, and the police details lined up to protect them from traffic conditions. And I will continue to take on more and more responsibility with the company.”

Eversource Supports “Troops To Energy Jobs” and ESGR

Developed by the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) and the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the Troops to Energy Jobs program provides a roadmap for entry into skilled utility and engineering positions in the energy industry.

It is a partnership of energy industry companies, their associations, their unions, the military and institutions of higher education.

This website provides valuable information, including a translator that matches your military experience to career categories in the energy industry, detailed information on how your military training applies to energy jobs and a roadmap of various career paths.

Eversource has also signed a statement of support for the Guard and Reserve, pledging that:

- We fully recognize, honor and comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.
- We will provide our managers and supervisors with the tools they need to effectively manage employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
- We appreciate the values, leadership, and unique skills Service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and veterans.
- We will continually recognize and support our country’s Service members and their families, in peace, in crises and in war.

Named a Top 50 Company for Veteran Friendliness

Military Times EDGE surveyed Fortune 1,000 companies and top government contractors and rated their vet-friendliness in three areas: recruiting, corporate culture and reserve policies.

Eversource was named one of the 50 companies selected because of our commitment to make veterans a priority—not just with slogans and statements of support, but with programs, policies and a positive track record of hiring veterans.

Eversource Thanks Our Veterans

At Eversource, we appreciate the sacrifices of all those who’ve served our country. In this video, our employees are proud to acknowledge and thank the military veterans in their life.
