Grow your skills, confidence, and career by applying for an externship with one of our partner hospitals! All of our hospitals are unique in their personalities and skill sets, yet they all share the same level of dedication to excellence in veterinary medicine. And they’re eager to show you the ropes!
Externships & Internships
Our externship & internship programs give veterinary students an immersive experience in the animal hospital setting, where they’ll be able to:
-Witness medical leadership in action
-Do case rounds with veterinarians
-Build case management strategies
-Assume the veterinarian’s role in managing medical records
-Learn valuable client communication tips to enhance medical outcomes
-Determine and perform critical diagnostics and treatment-related procedures
-Sit in on hospital meetings
-Join the surgical team from check-in, to scrub-in, to discharge

We work with veterinary colleges through the national and individual chapters of the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA) to bring important veterinary-specific business and medical topics to veterinary students. Our goal in this partnership is to bring knowledge and confidence to the future leaders of this profession.

At the Encore Performance Academy, we offer leadership and professional education courses designed to grow leaders and build stronger practices from the inside out. Throughout your training with Encore, you’ll brainstorm with fellow practice leaders, troubleshoot problems as a group, and participate in unique roleplays to put what you’ve learned into practice.
Michelle Winter, CVT, CVPM, CVJ runs the Encore Performance Academy and strives to continually provide opportunities to strengthen people, teams, and practices. Michelle has experience managing practices, consulting, and speaking nationwide. Most notably, she is known for creating and managing the Patterson Veterinary University educational programs.
