Idaho Youth Ranch

We often don’t see it, but Idaho’s kids are hurting. Idaho is one of the leading states in the nation in levels of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). ACEs, which are ten types of traumatic events during childhood—including abuse, neglect, an incarcerated family member, drug use, divorce, or mental illness in the home—are highly connected with future behavioral issues, mental health challenges, and lifelong risk of serious illness.

Fortunately, neither ACEs nor childhood trauma have to be a sentence for kids’ futures. When we intervene with proven therapeutic treatment models our youth find healing and hope. It starts with a mind shift when we look at youth; from “what is wrong with you” to “what happened to you.”

Idaho Youth Ranch nurtures hope, healing, and resilience in Idaho’s Youth through therapeutic tools designed to meet Idaho’s most vulnerable youth where they are. From emergency shelter and in-office and TeleMental Health outpatient counseling and therapy, to equine-assisted psychotherapy and job training and scholarships, Idaho Youth Ranch is there when Idaho’s youth need help.

With a long-term residential treatment center under construction, Idaho Youth Ranch will soon bring home over a hundred Idaho kids each year currently being sent far from home to get the help they need.
