The State Information Center (SIC) exists to provide a single point of entry into state government. SIC agents direct customers to the area or agency that provides the needed information, putting down the guesswork and providing the public with easier access to state government agencies.Our job is to enable citizens to obtain the information he/she is seeking. SIC does not represent anyone specific agency, but approximately 100 agencies servicing the entire state of Indiana. Our goal is to provide each citizen with a professional and thorough resolution to their needs.The State Information Center will help direct you to the correct agency either by providing you contact information, telephone, email address, directing you to the information on the agency website or by providing you general information regarding the subject.As the largest agency in the State of Indiana, the Indiana Department of Correction employs more than 6,400 Hoosiers, supervises almost 10,000 parolees in communities across the state and is responsible for the safety and security of more than 25,000 adults and 450 juveniles inside our correctional facilities.The IDOC currently operates 18 adult facilities, 5 juvenile facilities and 10 parole districts. Even though the reach is far and wide, each small part of the Department is committed to the main tenets of our mission: to increase public safety and reduce recidivism.Whether you are a member of the public, a criminal justice professional or a friend or family member of an incarcerated person, our website is a great resource for the most current and comprehensive information about the Department and a gateway to information on the populations we serve. More and more, the IDOC’s website grows as a key source on a variety of information regarding corrections in Indiana, and we will continually strive to improve and expand upon it as time progresses.To achieve this goal, I have actively encouraged the sharing of thoughts and ideas since becoming Commissioner.
